Gareth Bale's Injury Still Not Considered Serious

Oct 29, 2014 12:47 PM

Wales are confident Gareth Bale will play in their Euro 2016 qualifier in Belgium.

Bale has missed Real Madrid's past three matches with a gluteal leg muscle injury and will not play in their Copa del Rey tie against Cornella.

Carlo Ancelotti has played down the extent of Bale's injury and said of the Welshman's situation: "He just has a small injury."

Roberts said Wales' medical team were monitoring the injury and were in contact with the Champions League winners.

"It's important he's getting games at Real Madrid before we get back together," Roberts added.

"Having Gareth coming back to fitness will be a huge boost for us.

"The communication is excellent and we knew virtually the minute that he picked up the injury - our medical team was in contact with theirs," Roberts added.

Luke Shaw Demoted To England's Under-21 Roster

Oct 5, 2014 9:33 PM

Roy Hodgson has demoted Luke Shaw to England's Under-21 team.

Shaw was a member of England's World Cup squad but was not selected by Hodgson for the Euro 2016 qualifiers against San Marino and Estonia and is instead in the younger group to face Croatia.

Shaw was acquired by Manchester United this past summer.

Shaw has only played in two matches after missing the beginning of the season with a hamstring injury.

"I spoke to Roy about it and he rang me the week before it came out and said it's not a punishment or anything like that," said Shaw. "I'm not dropping down there because I haven't been playing so it's for me to help out the Under-21s.

"It's not just me -- Calum Chambers and [Saido] Berahino might have got a call-up. We're all happy to help. It's always been a privilege to play for my country, no matter what level it is and I will do it and do my best."
